
Alex's main professional interest in illustration is in portraiture / characters development and figurative art. He works in traditional and digital techniques, striving to stay in tune with new technologies, yet retaining traditional art fundamentals.
Throughout 20 years of his illustration and design career, Alex "juggled many balls", handling a large variety of illustration and design projects.
Working in various media, Alex enjoys adding new challenging projects to his collection of creative experiences.
Alex graduated from the USSR State Art University with an MA in Illustration and Design in 1990. In 1992 Alex started his six years of work on info-graphics and illustrations in the news department of Maariv Daily Newspaper, Israel.
During Alex's work in Maariv, he won the 1995 Reuter Foundation's News Graphics Award contest for the best info-graphics artist. The award was given for a series of graphical portraits of major Israeli politicians and businessmen. These graphical portraits were used in the 1996 elections on the State Television News.
Since 1997, Alex has lived and worked in Toronto. He has been working on a variety of projects including court illustrations, storyboards, graphic design and multimedia works. Alex has worked for leading Canadian and International Broadcasters and Publishers.
In 2006, Alex received an Award of Excellence in the Society for News Design's (SND's) Annual Creative Competition for participation in The Toronto Star's News Design projects. He was nominated for the 2009 SND award for his info-graphical illustration of The Toronto Star's Investigative Story.
